Beverly Hat from April KnitCrate
I love knitting hats! They're quick and easy to knit up, and you can do a lot of different things with them. So, I was really excited when I unboxed my April KnitCrate, and found that the patterns included were for two brightly colored hats! Before I get too far, if you haven't heard of KnitCrate, it's a subscription box specifically for knitters that includes two patterns (one beginner, one intermediate/advanced), yarn to make the project, and a fun extra! So far, I've been really impressed with this service, and have had so much fun making all of the projects. It's really helped me get out of my comfort zone of creams, greys, and blacks (are those even considered colors?!?) and also introduced me to new techniques!
This month, I got to play around with a color scheme that I would have probably been too afraid of if I'd been left to my own devices - a bright aqua with a pop of mango! The yarn is Deliciate, which is a 100% Superwash Merino Wool, from Vocabulary Yarn in Hawaiian Ice and Cara Cara Orange. As usual, there were two patterns in this box, and I chose to do the intermediate pattern, the Beverly Hat, which uses the blue as a main color accented with a fun, orange pattern that just screams tropical to me. It was knit in the round which means there is almost no finishing.
Personally, I like to wear this hat with the brim unfolded and a little slouchy, not only because I just like that style, but because I have a small head, so most hats tend to run a little big on me and end up being slouchy anyway! But, it can definitely be worn beanie style if you fold the brim up a little. It was a little chilly outside when I took these photos, so you can see I'm wearing a white long sleeve shirt, but I think I'd rather pair this hat with a black or white V-neck t-shirt, a pair of jean shorts, and some nice sandals for a nice relaxed, beachy vibe.
I've really loved this hat so far, and it may convince me to get a little more color into my wardrobe! As for now, I think I'm going to turn my attention to my May KnitCrate! I just opened it yesterday, and the unboxing video can be found over on my YouTube channel. I hope you like it as much as I do!
*This box is sent to me for review. All opinions are my own.
