Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

So, if you guys remember, early this month I did a Sephora Haul video, and showed you my new face primer, the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.  It made a couple appearances in videos after that, but I didn't really go into too much depth as to what I thought about it.  Honestly, the reason for this was that it took me a while to decide what my opinion even was.

Up until this point, the only kinds of primers I used had more of a gel consistency, like the Too Faced Primed and Poreless, Illamasqua Hydra Veil, and the Mirabella face primer.  This one was much thinner, and as you can see from the picture below, it comes out pure white.  It undergoes a crazy color transformation when you work apply it, though!  If you rub it in your fingers, it becomes an almost purple color, and when you add it to your face...

It becomes invisible!  I'm sure this is much more anticlimactic than I had anticipated, but I truly thought this was going to make my skin even more fair than it already is.  So, in conclusion, the color really wasn't an issue.  Like I said, the consistency is kind of bizarre to me, but it could quite easily just be that I'm used to gel primers.  This was much, much thinner, and honestly a little messy.  I don't like speaking badly about things, but that was definitely a downside.

Having said all that, however, the real test was as to how well it worked as an actual face primer.  I was pleasantly surprised that this really did help my makeup last an incredibly long time, and I don't really have to worry about my blush or bronzer slipping off my skin with this on.  I don't always wear a primer, but I have noticed that if I don't, my blush is oftentimes gone by noon.  That is definitely not the case with this bad boy!

I'm sure this post has come off as very "meh", but that's kind of what I think about it.  It's not bad at all, and certainly does its job.  I think the only thing that would keep me from repurchasing it is that in trying it, I've realized that I do have a preference for gel primers.  So, in a way, this has been a good purchase, helping me narrow down what I like and don't!  I will definitely still use it up, and would recommend it to you folks out there that enjoy a lighter weight primer!  If you're good with the consistency, this product is wonderful. :)

On a completely different note, can you believe that it's already July tomorrow?  Independence Day is only 4 days away, and I haven't done a single patriotic post or video!  So, to make up for it, I think the next four days will be devoted to all things red, white, and blue - starting with nails.  I guess that's not much of a hint, but if you're interested in what that could be, make sure to come back on Thursday!
