I recently read The Wishing Thread by Lisa Van Allen, which is about a house full of knitters (you can find out what I thought about it in my recent Shimmerature - there's a giveaway involved here!), and one of the characters in particular, Aubrey, is not only an avid knitter, but also works as a librarian. She was quite possibly my favorite character in the book, and the inspiration behind this cozy outfit!
Since I was going for a look that was a little geekier, and less put together while still maintaining my own bit of style, I figured it would be alright to pair this beautiful red lace dress I'd gotten from Kohl's well over a year ago that has since gotten a bit short from washing with a pair of my favorite jeans. I used to do this all the time, and I'm fairly certain I've seen other people do it, so I'm not sure if it's a Midwestern thing, or a "Megan thing" as I've been told by others, but I quite like it!
To dress it up a bit, I added the Anisette Cardigan that I knit as a catch up March Sweater for my Year of Sweaters goal, then paired it with some pearls and silver bangles. To keep the look laid back, I wore my casual Dry Goods bag that I love wearing in the summer (if you want a closer look at it, check out this video where I hauled it!)
It is the coziest little outfit that is still cool enough for Spring, and I absolutely love it! What do you think? Please do let me know in the comment section! Oh, and for those of you wondering what The Wishing Thread has to do with the title of this post, it doesn't. It's a song from The Music Man that was stuck in my head while writing it!
